ASIAN PEARS: Also called Oriental, Chinese, salad or apple pears, these unique fruits continue to grow in popularity because they can be eaten immediately upon purchase. Juicy and delicately sweet like a pear, they are also firm and crisp like an apple. They have a long shelf life and there is no need for store-level ripening. We carry the following varieties:
RUSSETED: Hosui, Shingo
CLEAR-YELLOW: Shinseiki, Ya Li
PERSIMMONS: One of the favorite fall fruits of the Orient, Persimmons grow in our California orchards and are available October through December. Delicate in flavor and firm in texture, Persimmons can be eaten like an apple, sliced and peeled, and are great in salads. We sell two varieties. The Hachiya, popular for cooking, are extremely colorful but edible only when fully ripe and the Fuyu, which may be eaten immediately upon purchase.
